I sometimes find it funny how things and people around me change—except for how I feel.

I learned early on that people leave in pursuit of their own happiness. So I ask myself: is it better to spend my time, effort, and emotions holding on to them, or to use my life to treasure those who choose to stay? We both know the right answer, and yet it still hurts to break free from a habit that once filled your days with color and light.

I’ve kept silent and patient, hoping there was something for us to look forward to. But I ended up creating things to look forward to on my own, realizing too late that I had slowly drifted away.

I’m aware that continuing forward helps me improve—to become a better version of myself. But I also know that I’ve kept going because you once told me I could. And I want to treasure that for the rest of my life, even if you’re no longer a part of it.
